Hello everyone, I wasn’t sure on what to write about today so I decided to show you the beginning of my story – part 1!
The Abyss
I sunk deeper and deeper into the depths of the abyss. Blackness surrounded me, my scream silenced by the water and just muffled underwater gurgles sounded in the water. I felt trapped and unheard.
My curiosity and stupidity had led me to do this. I had a dream but I did not think it was going to be like this, it was so strange down there. It felt like an undiscovered world, never ventured into before. Eerie.
I can remember thinking, “I can be that one girl who can adventure into depths unknown, confidently exploring new underwater territory, uncovering new species and finding lost treasures!” Bravely I thought, “I will be a courageous girl who will inspire others to explore the mysteries down below murky waters.”
A menacing thought raced to mind, “What if I don’t make it back up to the surface? I will be on my own and no one will ever know where I am.”
I was convinced I had to be strong and I had to make my dream come true!
I needed to explore below the dark ominous expanse of water. It felt almost necessary to know if there was an end to the world beneath me. Was it reachable? Could I touch the bottom?
I was sinking down silently, I made no movements. All of a sudden, bubbles surrounded me and with an almighty thud – I’d reached the bottom! Mission accomplished! I was overcome with excitement.
Glistening in the distance, something unexpected caught my eye. A shipwreck! It could only mean one thing…treasure!
I turned excitedly with a grin on my watery face and lunged like an eager dolphin toward the ship. It was amazing but I was slightly confused. How could a shipwreck be so pristine and clean? “How long had it been down here?” I wondered. I looked around cautiously. Mystery shaded this discovery.
A suspicious sound startled me, a swish and a whip far away. I followed the sound for several metres until right before me, silent and majestic, was the most magnificent shark!
I eased away and plummeted through a small hatch in the wreck. I can recall thinking “I should be safe here!”. It was cramped and compact, but it had a homely feeling. Whilst my eyes wandered the room, to my surprise, a giant chain twinkled by my foot.
I heaved and tugged at the chain, hoping to lever the heavy lid (a game of tug of war, me on one end and the black treasure trove hatch at the other).
Just as I managed to lift the lid ever so slightly, swoosh! Water was draining down small holes beneath the lid, was I going to be sucked down there too? The water swirled and twirled around, spinning me into a dizzy washed up mess.
The water was gone, I was laying in my empty bathtub, with my toy boat in one hand and my shark in the other! Oops I forgot to wash! … to be continued…
